Bio
The Buffy 7: Revamped! Manifesto

Presuming to rewrite anything to do with Buffy the Vampire Slayer is serious business. To ensure we, the writers of Buffy 7: Revamped! remain seriously committed to our mission, we vow to adhere to the following principles:

1)Our primary goal is to write episodes that would not have been out of place in the canon season seven as far as style, quality, and themes are concerned; that is, to write episodes that are truly "Buffy." Therefore we recognize that,

(i)Buffy is defined by its mix of generic styles: comedy, drama, romance, and horror. All these genres must be a part of any given episode to a greater or lesser degree for it to be truly Buffy.

(ii)Buffy is also defined by its subversion of conventions and stereotypes.

(iii)The themes of feminine empowerment and friendship are central to the Buffy series. These themes must be reflected in the episodes.

2)Our second primary goal is to construct a season seven arc that is more emotionally satisfying and logically coherent than the canon season seven. To that end we intend to,

(i)Prioritize character integrity.

(ii)Not marginalize regular characters. To either use a character in a significant way, or not use that character at all.

(iii)To write coherent plots that are reconcilable with established canon and the mythology of the Buffyverse.

(iv)To deliver what Joss promised in "Lessons" (7.1), "The next few months are going to be quite a ride. And I think we're all going to learn something about ourselves in the process." To truly go "right back to the beginning."

3)So as not to allow ourselves advantages that Joss had not, aside from our vast amounts of time, we place ourselves under the following limitations:

(i)If an actor refused to appear to the show during the seventh season, whether due to matters of scheduling, principle, or other concerns, we will not write the character that actor would have portrayed.

(ii)We will not write any scripts that call for unrealistically expensive special effects.

FAQs About Buffy 7: Revamped!

So, we haven't actually got any Qs yet, much less FAQs, but these are answers to Qs we imagine people would ask, and also Qs we asked ourselves.

There's no actual fiction on this site. Why?

Because we haven't posted any yet. We have the season planned and parts of future episodes written, but we have stuff going on that's taken presidence over fanfic. Stupid "real" life, always getting in the way... *grumbles* Oh, and there's also procrastination, our #1 hobby. There will be ficcy content on here eventually though. Honest.

Joss is writing a canon season 8 in comic book form. If it turns out brilliant and wonderful, as it certainly will, won't that dispel the bitterness created by season 7 and make this entire endeavour irrelevant?

No. The comics will indeed be wonderful, and we are as giddy about them as can be, but the TV show was special, we wuved it, and season 7 will always - ALWAYS - be a source of bitterness. At any rate, we still want to prove that we can do season 7 better.

You think you can create a better season than Joss? Who the hell do you think you are?

We're very special people. Duh.

I love you guys! Where can I read more of your stuff?

Aw, you're so sweet. You can check out our respective livejournal accounts, lorelei_frolick and blueanddollsome, check out our website Fun With Broken Toys, and look us up on fanfiction.net, where we go by banduraqueen and dollsom.
