Revamped? What? Why?

Three Excellent Questions...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is possibly the greatest show ever created. We're still hooked on it almost four years after it's been off the air, keeping our obsession alive through fanfic. As brilliant and inspiring as Buffy was though, it had its flaws. Flaws like screen-time sapping Potential Slayers, Kennedy, a Big Bad that couldn't do anything but talk, boring, boring ubervamps, Kennedy, pointless misleads regarding Robin Wood, useless Gaurdians, pod!Giles, commandant!Buffy, inspiring speeches that really weren't, Kennedy, Buffy's "he has a SOOOUL now!" mantra, Kennedy... in short, season 7 was chock-full o' flaw.

We don't blame Joss for these flaws. He was a busy man, after all, what with starting his shiny new show. Also, he was under the evil influence of Marti Noxon. So there were factors, unforseen and complex. We don't blame Joss, yet season 7 is still a source of much bitterness. We think we could have done better.

So this is us. Doing Buffy's season 7 better.

We hope you like it.

It Goes Like This...

The canon Season 7 got off to a pretty good start. So we start in the same place. The first two episodes, "Lessons" and "Beneath You" we don't change at all. We start to deviate from canon by adding two extra scenes to "Same Time, Same Place." The next episode, "Help," remains unchanged, and only one scene is altered in "Selfless." The first episode to get the total Revamped! treatment is "Him," renamed "In Memoriam." "Conversations With Dead People" is brilliant in its original form, but for the purposes of our season arc we change a couple of its threads. The revamping begins in earnest with "Sleeper," renamed "As We Forgive Those." From there on we deal with most of the same themes, issues and ideas as the canon season, but in a different way. By mid-season we will have diverged completely from canon.

Progress Report and Updates

February 17, 2007

We have original, ficcy content! Yay! You can read the added scenes to "Same Time, Same Place" now! Next on the Revamped! "To Do" list is "In Memoriam" - our first full-length original episode! I have it planned out in detail, just have to get to the writing of it. Unfortunately it is a busy time of year, with school and real-life issues necessarily taking priority. But I hope to have "In Memoriam" up in a couple of weeks.

Cheers!

So, the next episode will be called "In Memoriam." It's taking the place of "Him." We made a banner for it, hopefully to get you all excited about it. If you want the banner, take it, but credit us, and/or use the code below, so that the banner will link back to us. Thanks!

Full-sized 800x400 banner: <A HREF="http://buffy7revamped.livejournal.com/"><img src="http://pics.livejournal.com/buffy7revamped/pic/0000bdzd"></a>

500x250 banner to fit in LiveJournal's 3 column format:

P.S. I only realized after I made the banner that Jonathan isn't dead yet at this point in the series. Oh well. It's a memorial banner, and he's a character who should be remembered.

Before We Begin...

To remind you what has happened so far this season, before diving in to our Revamped! writings, here are plot summaries of the first two episodes. If you're allergic to snark, be warned, snark may have been involved in the process of making these summaries. Also, there's spoilers. Duh.

Disclaimer:

Even though we can do Season 7 better, that still doesn't mean we own Buffy or anything to do with it. We aren't making any money off of this, and even if we were we'd donate it all to Joss because we wuv him so! Also, we're poor, so you won't get much out of us anyways.
